My Interview with Sistah’s Place2 Entertainment

I was recently honored to be featured and interviewed by Sistah’s Place2 Entertainment in their Author’s Showcase. Below is a copy of the interview.

We sat down with Tanisha to talk about her latest novel 2nd Sunday Playing for Keeps. She discussed her inspirations and her latest projects on the horizon for 2015. Being a self-published author she does aspire to be like “Great Ones” who have inspired her as an author.

Tell us about your latest novel 2nd Sunday.

Tanisha: 2nd Sunday Playing for Keeps is a love story. It’s about spiritual temptations, resisting temptations, and following your heart. It just deals with lots of aspects of love. You know like forbidden love, falling in love, and rekindling love. It’s a love story that has a lots of twists and turns. There are a lot of tough decisions that have to be made in this story.

What message do you want to leave your audience with your latest novel?

Tanisha: Embrace love and keep your heart open. You know just because one relationship does not work does not mean you have to close your heart. You have to be open for love when it shows up and when it happens. A lot of people think because you had your heart broken once that you cannot fall in love again. That is not true.

Who would you compare your writing style to you?

Tanisha: I don’t really compare myself to anyone. But, I do aspire to be like some of the great ones like Beverly Jenkins. I love Carl Webber’s writing and Evelyn Palfrey. She is from Austin, Texas or she writes about Austin, Texas. I aspire to be like the great ones.

What inspired you to become an author?

Tanisha: Well, even as a child I have always had a vivid imagination. I always created stories in my head so I thought I get them out of my head and put them down on paper. That is what started me to writing which brought me to my first novel ten years later. I am on my third one and it’s a slow journey. But also, with the latest novel 2nd Sunday Playing for Keeps, we turned it into a stage play back in November 2014. We sold out two shows and it was a wonderful experience.

What is in store for you in 2015?

Tanisha: In 2015, I am working on my fourth novel and I want to do more production with 2nd Sunday Playing for Keeps. I also want to travel more and do more book clubs, and meet and greets. You can find out more about Tanisha by following her on social media and her author’s blog to stay connected with her on her writing projects and stage play production 2nd Sunday Playing for Keeps.
